Welcome to today’s lesson! Let’s walk step-by-step through how to start editing your images using an easy and free online tool.

🧰 Tool You’ll Use:

We’ll use Photopea – a free online photo editor that works just like a lightweight version of Photoshop.

💡 No signup needed. It’s fast, powerful, and free!

🪄 Step-by-Step Guide

🔹 1. Open Photopea in Your Browser

Open a new tab in your browser and type:

photopea.com

You’ll land on a welcome screen.

➡️ Click “Start a New Project” to begin.

🔹 2. Set Your Canvas Size

You’ll now see a window to configure your project.

In the “New Project” window:

  • Set dimensions based on where the image will be used.

    • For this example, use 1280 x 720 px (perfect for blog images and about page images).

  • Name your project meaningfully for SEO (search engines).

    • Example:
      our-team-at-abc-firm-family-lawyers-chicago

✅ Using descriptive filenames helps your website SEO.

🔹 3. Create Your Blank Canvas

Once you’ve named and sized your project, click “Create”.

You now have a blank canvas ready to start editing.

🔹 4. Insert Your Image

Now, let’s bring in the image you want to edit.

Steps:

  • Go to your computer and locate the image you downloaded (e.g., a stock photo).

  • Drag and drop the image onto the canvas, or use File → Open and select it.

🔹 5. Resize and Position Your Image

Once the image appears on the canvas:

📏 Before clicking anywhere:

  • Resize the image to fit your canvas.

  • Use the corner handles to scale the image proportionally.

  • Move the image around until your subject (e.g., people, product) is centered and well-framed.

🎯 You can reposition the image to highlight specific areas or crop out unneeded parts.

🔹 6. Confirm the Layout

Once satisfied:

  • Click the green check icon (✓) to confirm placement.

  • You can still move or adjust the image if needed afterward.

📌 Pro Tips:
