📄 Lesson Content:

🔐 Why Change Your Password?

If you were given a default or temporary password when your website was created, it’s important to change it immediately to keep your website secure. You’ll only need to do this once — or anytime you’d like to update your login details.

✅ Step-by-Step: Changing Your Password While Logged In

  1. Log In to Your Website Dashboard
    Visit:

    yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Use your current username and password.

  2. Go to Your Profile
    In the left-hand menu, click:

    Users → Profile

(It may say Your Profile or your name/email address.)

  3. Scroll Down to “Account Management” Section

  4. Click “Set New Password”
WordPress will automatically suggest a strong password.

  5. Type Your New Password
You can delete the suggested one and type your own (just make sure it’s secure).

  6. Click “Update Profile” at the Bottom of the Page
    This saves your new password.

  7. You’re Done!
Use the new password next time you log in.

🔒 Password Guidelines:

  • Use at least 12 characters

  • Include a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols

  • Avoid using your name or common phrases like 1234, password, or abc

🧠 Pro Tip:

Use a free password manager like Bitwarden, 1Password, or LastPass so you don’t have to remember complex passwords — and you’ll stay secure across all your accounts.
