Sometimes, you might need to delete a blog post — either permanently or temporarily. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to send a post to the Trash, restore it if needed, and delete it permanently.

✍ Step-by-Step: How To Delete a Blog Post

✅ Step 1: Go to All Posts

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard

  2. Navigate to Posts > All Posts

  3. Hover over the post you want to delete


✅ Step 2: Move It to Trash

  1. Click on the “Trash” link that appears under the post title

  2. The post is now moved to Trash, like your computer’s Recycle Bin

🗑️ Note: Posts stay in the trash for 30 days before being permanently deleted automatically.


🔁 Step-by-Step: How To Restore a Post

✅ Step 1: Go to the Trash

  1. While in the “All Posts” section, click the Trash tab

  2. Locate the post you want to restore

✅ Step 2: Click “Restore”

  1. Hover over the post and click Restore

  2. The post will return to your list of posts as a Draft

📝 Restored posts do not go live automatically. You must manually publish them again.


❌ Step-by-Step: How To Permanently Delete a Post

  1. Go to Trash

  2. Hover over the post you want to delete forever

  3. Click Delete Permanently

⚠️ This action cannot be undone


🔧 Optional: Re-Publish After Restore

If you’ve restored a post and want to make it live again:

  1. Hover over the post and click Quick Edit

  2. Change the Status to Published

  3. Click Update

Or open the post fully, make edits if needed, then click Publish


✅ You’re Done!
