Tweak It Yourself (TIY)

✏️ Lesson Description (What you’ll learn):

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to update the logo that appears on your homepage. Some websites use a different logo on the homepage (e.g. a light version) compared to inner pages, depending on the background design. You’ll also learn how to adjust the logo in your homepage footer and resize it for better appearance.

📄 Lesson Content:

🖼 Why the Homepage Logo May Be Different

Many website designs use a dark background for the homepage and a white background for the inside pages. To maintain visibility and aesthetics:

  • A light-colored logo is used on the homepage.

  • A full-color or dark version is used on inside pages.

✅ Step-by-Step: Changing the Logo on the Homepage (Header)

  1. Log In
Go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin and log in with your credentials.

  2. Go to Pages → Find “Home”

    • In your dashboard, click Pages

    • Look for the page labeled Front Page — that’s your homepage.

  3. Click “Edit with Elementor”

    • Right-click and open in a new tab so your dashboard stays open.

  4. Wait for Elementor to Load

    • Give it a few seconds — sometimes it takes a while the first time.

  5. Click on the Logo in the Header Section

    • As you move your mouse, different sections will highlight.

    • Click on the logo once it highlights.

  6. Change the Logo

    • In the left sidebar, click the logo image again to open the media library.

    • Upload your logo from your computer by dragging and dropping it, or click Select Files and browse.

  7. Choose and Insert the Logo

    • After the upload finishes, make sure the logo is selected.

    • Click Select to insert it into the homepage.

  8. Click the Purple “Publish” Button

    • Once saved, the button will turn gray, indicating changes are published.

  9. Preview the Homepage

    • Go to the front-end tab or click Preview Changes to confirm the logo has been updated.

🧭 Updating the Footer Logo on the Homepage

  1. Scroll Down in Elementor

    • Navigate to the footer section while still in Elementor.

  2. Click the Footer Logo

    • Same process: click the logo, then the image in the sidebar.

  3. Upload or Select Your New Logo

    • Just like before, upload from your computer or pick one from the library.

  4. Click “Select,” Then “Publish” Again

    • Done! Now both the header and footer logos are updated.

🧠 Pro Tips for Logo Resizing

  • If your logo looks squashed, stretched, or has awkward spacing:

    • Click the surrounding container or section.

    • Adjust the width by dragging the edges or using Elementor settings.

  • For complex logos or odd shapes:

    • Consider asking your logo designer to provide a horizontal or square version.

    • Canva users: resize and export a proper version there before uploading.
