MODULE 8: Getting Additional Support
0/1
Tweak It Yourself (TIY)

✏️ Lesson Description (What you’ll learn):

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to temporarily unlock advanced modules that are normally hidden from your view — like Plugins, Themes, and other admin tools. These are hidden for your safety, but in case you or your team need access, here’s how to unlock them.

⚠️ Note: Only unlock these modules if you know what you’re doing or have been instructed to.

📄 Lesson Content:

🔒 Why Are Some Modules Hidden?

To keep your site simple, secure, and harder to break by accident, modules like Plugins, Appearance, Tools, and others have been hidden using a tool called Admin Menu Editor. This helps prevent unintentional changes to your site’s engine.

🔓 When Should You Unlock Them?

  • If you’re working with a developer or web designer who needs full access

  • If you’ve been trained and know what you’re doing

  • If you’ve been asked to perform a task that requires access to plugins, themes, or settings

✅ How to Unlock the Hidden Modules (Step-by-Step)

⚠️ This should only be done by an experienced user or developer.

  1. Navigate to:

    Settings → Admin Menu Editor
  2. In the Admin Menu Editor panel, locate the hidden items (they are often grayed out or unchecked)

  3. Re-enable any menu item by toggling its visibility (eye icon)

  4. Save changes at the top or bottom of the screen

  5. The previously hidden modules will now appear in your left sidebar

🚪 After You’re Done: Hide the Menus Again

If you’re not the main administrator, always remember to:

  • Log out of the master admin account

  • Or re-hide the modules via Admin Menu Editor

This ensures the simpler experience is preserved for future use and protects the website from unnecessary risks.

🧠 Good to Know

  • You should only need to unlock these modules once in a while, not during everyday edits.

  • If you’re unsure, ask your developer or support contact before making changes.
