📄 Lesson Content:
🖥 What Is the Dashboard?
The WordPress Dashboard is the first screen you see after logging in. Think of it as your website’s control room — where all the editing and updating happens.
🧭 Main Parts of the Dashboard:
1. Left Sidebar Menu
This is your main navigation panel.
-
Dashboard – Overview of site activity
-
Posts – Where you manage blog articles
-
Media – Your image, video, and document library
-
Pages – Where you edit your site’s main pages (Home, About, Services, etc.)
-
Appearance – Customize your site’s look (menus, widgets, etc.)
-
Plugins – Tools that extend your site’s features (you can usually skip this unless told otherwise)
-
Users – Manage who can log in
-
Settings – Site-wide configuration (best to leave this alone)
✅ Client Tip: Most of the time, you’ll just use Pages, Posts, Media, and Appearance → Menus.
2. Top Admin Bar
Visible at the top of your screen.
-
Hover over your Site Name to quickly visit the front end
-
Click + New to quickly add a new page, post, or media
-
Access your Profile or Log Out on the far right
3. Main Screen / Welcome Panel
The center of the dashboard often includes:
-
Quick links like “Edit Homepage”
-
Site health or updates
-
Recent activity (like published posts)
You can customize this screen by clicking “Screen Options” in the top-right.
